The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has announced the appointment of Jon Hughes, Managing Director of Dan-Bunkering Africa, as the new Chair of the IBIA Africa Regional Board.
Hughes, who has over two decades of experience in the marine fuel sector, succeeds Paul Maclons, who is stepping down after serving as Chair since 2021.
‘The IBIA Board and Secretariat extend their heartfelt thanks to Paul for his years of service, and we look forward to building on this strong foundation with Jon at the helm,’ IBIA said in a statement issued yesterday (16 April).
Commenting on his appointment, Hughes said: ‘I am honoured to take on the role of IBIA Africa Chair and build on the solid foundations laid by Paul Maclons and previous Chairs. I look forward to working with colleagues across the region to further strengthen collaboration, promote sustainable practices, and support the continued growth of Africa’s bunkering sector.’
IBIA added: ‘We look forward to Jon’s leadership and are confident that his expertise will benefit the IBIA community across Africa and beyond.’
