Follows up January’s letter of intent with Ulstein Verft.with a firm order for the largest hybrid vessel in the world.
Steel cutting is scheduled for July 2017 and delivery of the Ro-Pax vessel is slated for May 2019.
The vessel, which has a working project title of Color Hybrid, will enter service on the Sandefjord-Strömstad schedule. It will have almost double the capacity of the M/S Bohus, which it will eventually replace.
The Color Hybrid will be a plug-in hybrid and its batteries will be recharged via onshore power facilities. It will operate in full battery mode when it transits the fjord to Sandefjord.
The company has already installed shore power facilities in Oslo, Larvik and Kristiansand, and with the anticipated installation in Sandefjord, all Color Line Norwegian ports will have shore power facilities.
