The addition of the tanker MT Thornton to its fleet enables Bunker One to provide offshore bunkering 50 nautical miles from the Itaqui coastline.
The tanker will supply very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) and low sulphur marine gasoil (LSMGO).
Bunker One entered the Brazil market in 2017 and has a presence in the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Flavio Ribeiro, Managing Director, Bunker One Brazil, commented on the company’s decision to strengthen its foothold in the country: ‘Brazil continues to be of strategic importance to Bunker One. Expanding our presence to northern Brazil is in line with our ambition to strengthen our position in the Americas.
‘This region is of vital importance to Brazilian export of commodities, and our presence there will provide our customers with more flexibility in terms of bunkering options on their voyages. We listen to our customers’ requests for places of delivery, and we want to continue to meet the increased demands of our business partners.’
Peter Zachariassen, CEO, Bunker One, added: ‘I am very pleased that we can sustain momentum and stay on course with our plans to expand our operational reach. As we continue with our ambitious growth plans, we will, of course, remain dedicated to our business partners and maintain our strong focus on providing our customers with services of the highest quality.'
The new operation and sales will be handled out of Bunker One’s office in Brazil:
