Some 388,640 metric tonnes (mt) of marine fuel were sold in Panama last month – 16,585 mt (4.5%) more than the 372,055 mt recorded in the same month in 2020.
August’s total was also an increase of 1,422 mt on the 387,218 mt registered in July.
Very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) sales (264,547 mt) slipped 2.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) and 4% month-on-month (m-o-m).
The 78,695 mt of RMG 380 sales last month represented the third-highest monthly total of 2021, while the 37,133 mt of low sulphur marine gasoil sales was the second-highest monthly total of the year.
The 8,265 mt of marine gasoil sales in August represented the lowest monthly total of 2021.
During the first eight months of the year, a total of 3,262,050 mt of marine was sold in Panama compared with 3,181,915 mt during the same period in 2020.
The 595 bunker operations carried out last month was the highest monthly total of 2021 – and the highest figure since March 2020.
Some 33 bunker barges were in operation in Panama last month – one more than in August 2020 but four fewer than in July.
