AMERICAS: US Coast Guard flags up fuel contamination challenges

Citing the example of a towing vessel operating on the Mississippi River that lost propulsion due to the presence of water in its fuel, the US Coast Guard highlights that small vessels often have one or two filters installed directly in the fuel supply line which are not as efficient in removing water as the centrifugal purifiers used on larger vessels.
