Canada’s Seaspan Energy has confirmed to Bunkerspot it has taken delivery of Seaspan Baker, the final ship in a series of three 7,600 cubic metre (cbm) LNG bunkering vessels set to operate on the West Coast of North America.
Seaspan Baker (known as Koma Kulshan to the Squamish nation) will join Seaspan Garibaldi (Nch’kay) and Seaspan Lions (Ch’ich’iyúy Elxwíkn).
‘Currently, the fleet is set to provide LNG fuelling services for vessels on the West Coast of North America and can be deployed to serve additional markets as they mature and develop,’ Seaspan indicated in an email to Bunkerspot.
In December, Seaspan completed its first LNG ship-to-ship (STS) transfer to a containership in the Port of Long Beach, marking the beginning of its service offering in the Long Beach and Vancouver markets.
The previous month, Seaspan became the first accredited LNG bunkering supplier in the Port of Vancouver.
The vessels, which were built by CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE), are 112.8 meters long, 18.6 meters wide, and 5 meters high, with a design speed of 13 knots.
