In a relaxation of some pandemic-related measures, the Marine Department of Hong Kong has today announced that crew members onboard goods vessels calling at Hong Kong for shipping services, including bunkering, will be exempt from compulsory quarantine, providing they meet all necessary conditions.

However, the Department emphasised that crew changes will not be permitted for goods vessels visiting Hong Kong purely for shipping services.

If a goods vessel, its crew onboard or a ship agent fails to comply with the exemption conditions, the Department may remove permission for the ship agent to arrange vessel calls at Hong Kong to take on fuel or for other shipping services for a period of one month.

The new exemption conditions take effect from today (15 June).
