Vitol’s Singaporean bunker company, V-Bunkers, has received Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) awards for 5 of its fleet of 20 bunker barges.

The awards were presented by Quah Ley Hoon, Chief Executive of the MPA at the 55th Singapore Registry of ships forum.
Mike Muller, Head of Vitol Asia, commented on the award: ‘We strive to achieve high standards of cleaner, more sustainable barge operatorship and are delighted to receive these awards reflecting our commitment to this principle.

‘We will continue to innovate and uphold our reputation as one of the best bunker craft operators here in Singapore, the world’s largest maritime refuelling hub.’

As previously reported, in September V-Bunkers placed an order to build two electric-hybrid bunker tankers which will be deployed in Singapore.

The bunker tankers are being built with Electric-Hybrid notation and will employ Energy Storage Systems (ESS) technology comprising Lithium-ion batteries for energy storage and an automated Power Management System (PMS) which will manage power consumption.

Vitol Marine Fuels Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Vitol Group, acquired 100% of Singapore-based Sinanju Tankers Holdings in March this year and the business was rebranded as Vitol Bunkers (S) Pte Ltd (V-Bunkers).
