The Blue Whale LNG bunker tanker has been named at the Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan Shipyard.

The event was announced by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE), which noted that the bunker tanker project began in 2020 and has involved an investment of some KRW 55.3 billion.

The Ministry also said that when the vessel goes into service it will be able to undertake ship to ship bunkering of the equivalent of 250 truckloads of LNG, which is expected ‘to greatly reduce the time and space constraints of LNG bunkering and increase efficiency.’
