Higas S.r.l. has contracted Spain’s Reganosa to operate and maintain the LNG terminal at the Sardinian port of Oristano.

The terminal, which will include LNG bunkering facilities, is scheduled to start operations in the first half of this year.

The facility will feature a jetty capable of receiving LNG vessels of up to 20 000 cubic metres (cbm) in capacity, an unloading arm, six horizontal cryogenic holding tanks, two LNG truck loading bays, and a natural gas captive power generation system. The terminal will be capable of loading around 8,000 LNG trucks a year.

Higas is a joint venture between two Italian partners (Gas & Hit and CPL Concordia) and Avenir LNG.
