The Botnia Enabler, the world’s largest and first ice-rated LNG-fuelled mega Ro-Ro vessel, is scheduled for delivery to Wallenius SOL in mid-December.
Providing an update on the vessel’s construction timeline, the designer, Danish shipbuilder, Knud E. Hansen, also disclosed that the second vessel in the series was launched last week at the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Yantai, eastern China.
The 27,000 DWT vessels will operate in the tough, sometimes Arctic, conditions in the Gulf of Bothnia. With ice class 1A Super notation, the ship will are 242 metres long (LOA) with a beam of 35.2 metres and a capacity of 5,800 lane metres.
Wallenius SOL was set up by Wallenius and Swedish Orient Line in May 2019 for the transport of forestry products in the Baltic region.
