Fratelli Cosulich has informed Bunkerspot that it has exercised its option to order a second LNG bunkering vessel (LNGBV) from China’s CIMC SOE shipyard.
As previously reported, the company announced the order for the first LNGBV in May 2021 – and it has now informed Bunkerspot that it exercised the option for the second vessel on 27 July 2021.
‘The first LNGBV will be ready by September 2023 and the second one by January 2024,’ the company added.
‘Both vessels will have 8,200 cubic metre (cbm) capacity and will be equipped with N.4 Main Generators, N.2 Z-drive azimuth thrusters, N.2 bow thrusters, GCU and will be delivered as “subcooler ready”.’
As previously reported, Fratelli Cosulich plans to use at least one LNGBV in the Mediterranean Sea region, where it expects to see continuing growth in the demand for LNG bunkering.
