The Estonia-based bunker supplier Marine Energy Solutions (MES) has informed Bunkerspot that it is looking to secure more contract business, as the region’s spot market continues to feel the effects of the ongoing sanctions against Russia.

Speaking to Bunkerspot yesterday (24 June), senior bunker trader Evelin Belova also reported that the company used to source most its bunker product from Russian refineries, but it is now bringing in cargoes from Rotterdam – which has added to its costs.

MES uses the 5,000 mt capacity tanker Mersey both to bring in cargoes from Rotterdam and also make bunker deliveries to its shipping customers. The Mersey joined MES’ fleet in June last year, replacing the similarly-sized Crystalwater.

MES also makes bunkering deliveries with the 2,500 mt capacity Skorpion, as well as chartering in trucks for smaller deliveries.

Supplying both marine fuel oil and gasoil in all Estonian ports and in some ports of southern Finland, MES mainly delivers high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) to scrubber-equipped passenger ships.

In addition, the Mersey is sometimes chartered by Bunker One for operations in Germany.
