The class society, created through the 2013 merger of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Germanischer Lloyd (GL), will adopt the name DNV from 1 March, to ‘simplify and thereby strengthen our global brand’.

Announcing the rebrand, the society noted that the DNV GL title ‘was not a name that rolled off the tongue, and many customers adopted the shorter “DNV” for convenience.’ The new name will also bring with it a slight change to existing logo.

Looking ahead, DNV said it is gearing up for a decade of transformation, in energy and also transport, food and health systems.

‘We want to shape the future of assurance by offering you the best, most efficient and digitalised ways of delivering our services - be it classification, certification, verification, inspection, advisory, or digital solutions - and by being the partner you turn to for assuring your data, physical and digital assets, and processes,’ it said.
