MSC has reported that its containership MSC Ariane had to stop at sea due to an engine issue caused by ‘bad quality of fuel’ and divert to Wakayama for repairs.

In a statement published on its website yesterday (6 April), MSC said that the incident occurred on 2 April while the MSC Ariane, which is deployed on the Pearl service, was en route from Xiamen to Los Angeles.

MSC added: ‘MSC Ariane was expected to berth in Los Angeles on 24 April. Due to the congestion in the Los Angeles area, we are now expecting a schedule adjustment to this original berthing plan.’
