GAC Group Bunker Fuels has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai-based Neutral Fuels to market its marine gasoil biodiesel blend which has been developed for shipping clients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and India.
Neutral Fuels said the companies will also work together to expand the number of supply points throughout the Middle East and Africa.
Commenting on the MoU, Gary Hubbard FCILT, Chief Commercial Officer of Neutral Fuels Holdings, said the long-term joint commitment will accelerate the decarbonisation of the sector.
‘Deploying our net zero biofuel in the maritime sector will play a key role in helping to achieve the new carbon emission reduction targets set by the International Maritime Organization, said Hubbard.
Martyn McMahon, GAC Bunker Fuels’ Global Commercial Manager, added: ‘As a leader in our industry, we have a responsibility to do the right thing. We have to play our part in helping to achieve the United Nations’ sustainable development goal on climate action. Hence our commitment to adapt, reduce and mitigate our activities’ negative impact on the environment and contribution to climate change.’
As previously reported, in November 2020, Neutral Fuels announced a partnership with Uniper that involves blending Uniper Energy DMCC’s very low sulphur fuel oil and Neutral Fuels’ biofuel to create a marine fuel that meets the ISO 8217:2010 RMG380 specification.
