Yang Ming has taken delivery of a second stem of ‘Bio24F’ from Turkish supplier Arkas Bunker.

As previously reported by Bunkerspot, in November, Arkas Bunker supplied ‘Bio24F’ biofuel to the Yang Ming-operated YM Inventive. The fuel blend comprises 24% used cooking oil (UCO), certified by ISCC, and 76% very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO).

Commenting on the second biofuel delivery, Seçkin Gül, General Manager of Arkas Bunker, said: ‘After a long period of meticulous work, we received our ISCC Certification and became the first company in Türkiye to provide the Bio24F supply in marine fuels. Our pace is now quicker.

‘Today, we are delighted and proud to make the second Bio24F supply to Yang Ming, one of the world’s leading shipowners. This second supply, which is a significant milestone for us, reflects the positive outcomes and satisfaction with the fuel’s performance from the first supply.’

He continued: We have noticed that using Bio24F not only helps shipowners reduce their carbon tax obligations under the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), but also significantly cuts CO2 emissions. We have seen the remarkable qualities of our fuel firsthand.

‘While using the biofuel we named Bio24F on Arkas Line vessels, we are also offering it to other shipowners. Together with our experienced colleagues and business partners, we continue to work relentlessly on biofuels. We stand by all our shipowners with special solutions for their vessels to reach cleaner seas in their sustainability journeys.’

Having started supplying Bio24F in the second quarter of this year, Arkas Bunker fuelled Arkas Line’s vessel Matilde A in May 2024.
