Currently the group’s COO, Saral will take on his new role on 16 September, succeeding Karl Beeson who is stepping down after eight years.
Saral joined Cockett Marine Oil in March 2015 after three years working in the fuel oil trading team at Vitol, which has a 50% interest in Cockett Marine Oil.
A well-known figure in the marine fuels industry, Saral has over 20 years’ experience in the bunker sector which includes senior roles with Bakri Trading and Chemoil.
Steve Brann and Murray Paul Grindrod, commenting on behalf of the group’s shareholders, said: ‘We thank Karl for his outstanding contribution to the group and the profitable growth achieved during his tenure. Cem’s appointment illustrates our commitment to building Cockett into a leading integrated provider of fuel products and services globally. We wish him all the best in the role.’
Saral added: ‘I am looking forward to building on Karl’s hard work and leading the group through this next exciting phase in its development.’
