The Oslo-headquartered company says scrubbers have been installed and commissioned on three of its vessels and its retrofit programme – which covers a further seven vessels – should be completed during H2 2019.
MPCC Container Ships also announced that it has concluded charter parties with ‘major operators’ for 8 out of the 10 vessels that will be fitted with scrubbers. The charter parties are said to have been concluded ‘at attractive base rates plus a savings sharing mechanism’.
The company, which earlier this week signed up to the Trident Alliance, has also stated that it intends to operate 58 of its vessels on IMO 2020-compliant fuel.
