ScanOcean has informed Bunkerspot that it is building on its partnership with Neste to launch the lower-emission marine fuel, Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed, in the Swedish market.

As previously reported, Neste has already launched the Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed fuel in Finland.

Speaking to Bunkerspot this morning (7 August), ScanOcean’s Managing Director Jonatan Karlström said that the product is now officially launching in Sweden and deliveries have already been scheduled for today.

Karlström said ScanOcean will be delivering the Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed DMA by trucks to ports on the Swedish east coast and the new product will also be available at the Södertälje ex-pipe facility together with DMA 0.1 and DMB 0.1, serving vessels in transit into Lake Mälaren.

The ScanOcean MD anticipated that demand for the Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed will come primarily from the passenger, ro-ro and container sectors, but the company has also received enquiries for supplying tankers and dry cargo ships.

The Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed is produced by adding renewable raw material into the conventional refining process.

According to Neste, the fuel has a composition and performance ‘similar to conventional marine fuels’ and meets ISO 8217 specifications, but it provides users ‘up to 80% lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions’ over the fuel’s life cycle compared to fossil fuel.

Sveta Ukkonen, Head of Marine Fuels at Neste, commented: ‘We are very pleased to continue our long-term partnership with ScanOcean, and introducing the DMA co-processed with renewable raw materials to the Swedish market is a part of our marine fuel strategy. We see good growth potential for the Swedish market, and we are very pleased to have ScanOcean as our local partner.’

Enquiries for Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed deliveries in Sweden can be directed to the ScanOcean sales desk (email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; Tel: +46 8 555 726 50).

As previously reported, 0.1 Co-processed fuel is also available in Denmark, from Malik Energy A/S.
